Set up the payment methods in Magento

Set up the payment methods you wish you offer, and customize how they are shown to your shoppers during checkout. 

To find the sections for setting up the payment methods:

  1. Log in to your Magento admin panel.
  2. In the main menu, go to System > Configuration
  3. In the left navigation bar, go to Sales > Payment Methods
    After the Default settings section, you can find the sections for various payment methods, explained below.

Credit Card 

If you want to offer credit card payments, you need to have checkout web service role enabled for your merchant account. On the test environment, this role is enabled by default.

To enable the checkout web service role on your live environment:

  1. Download and fill in the PCI Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) A
  2. Email it to Support Team.

Once you have confirmation from Adyen Support that the checkout web service role is enabled for your account, you can set up API credit cards payments in Magento: 

Click CreditCard API integration and fill out the following fields: 

Field Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Credit Card Types Select the credit card type(s) that you want to show during checkout.
Payment from applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow credit card payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow credit card payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries field below.
Visible in

Select whether you want to show this payment method in the backend of Magento, in the frontend for your shoppers, or both.

Advanced Settings

Field

Description

Enable MOTO for backend orders

Select Yes to enable Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) without CVC.

To enable this functionality, you first need to contact our Support Team.

Enable Installments

Select Yes to enable installments for each credit card type.

Installments default The default settings for installments.
Installments for [type] Payment specific settings for installments. Make sure that you configure every installment.
Disable at zero grand total Disable this payment in the checkout when the grand total of the quote is 0.

OneClick

During checkout, your shopper can choose to have their payment details stored for future use. The stored payment methods are shown to the shopper during checkout. 

To confirm that a recurring contract was created, Adyen sends a RECURRING_CONTRACT notification. This notification is not enabled by default. If you want to enable it, contact our  Support Team.

To set up stored payment methods, click Adyen OneClick - Requires Adyen Credit Card and fill out the following fields: 

Field Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Agreement Type

The type of recurring contracts that are shown during checkout.

Possible values:

  • ONECLICK – show stored payment methods for one-click transactions, where the shopper needs to enter their CVC/CVV to complete the payment.
  • RECURRING – show stored payment methods for recurring transactions, where the shopper can complete the payment without providing additional details.

    If you select ONECLICK here, make sure that you enabled recurring contracts for one-click transactions when you set up Billing Agreements, and similarly for RECURRING.

HPP

If you want to offer payments using the redirect method, you need to define a skin in the Adyen test Customer Area, and publish it to live. 

To set up the redirect method, click HPP, and fill out the following fields:

Field Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Skin Code Code of the skin that you want to use (*).
HMAC Key for Test Skin

The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin (*).

HMAC Key for Live The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin (*).

(*) You noted this down when you set up your Adyen Customer Area.

 

Advanced settings

Field Description
Title The title that indicates this payment method during checkout if Leave payment method selection on HPP is set to Yes.
Days for Delivery The number of days to be added to the current date to set the delivery date.
Leave payment method selection on HPP

Select the payment flow that you want to use.

Select Yes to redirect the shopper to the Adyen HPP to choose their payment method, instead of displaying the payment methods in your checkout. In this case, you have to further specify whether you want to use one-page payment flow, or multi-page payment flow.

Select No to enable directory lookup.

Return URL in request Select Yes if you have a multi webshop and you want to use one skin only.
Disable at zero grand total Disable this payment in the checkout when the grand total of the quote is 0.
Fee

The Payment method name of the HPP payment can be found in the Adyen Customer Area under Account > Payment Methods and here you see under the column name the name of the payment method.

For alternative checkout modules:

If the payment methods are still not showing up on your checkout page, it could mean that our observer is not executed. Contact your vendor that supplies the checkout module if the controller_action_predispatch_checkout is called. If this extension is using a custom observer, add these lines to config.xml: https://github.com/Adyen/adyen-magento/blob/2.9.0/app/code/community/Adyen/Payment/etc/config.xml#L154-L165

HPP iDEAL

 

Field Description
Show iDEAL bank logos Select Yes to show iDEAL bank logos (radio buttons) instead of dropdown.
Fee An additional fee that will be added to iDEAL payments.

HPP OpenInvoice

 

Setting Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title The title that indicates the open invoice payment methods during the checkout.
Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

OpenInvoice Type

The type of open invoice payment method that you want to use. Possible values:

  • AfterPay Netherlands
  • Klarna
Show Gender

When making a payment with an open invoice payment method, the shopper has to submit their gender, date of birth, and phone number. If you set these fields to Yes, your shopper can fill out this information directly in your checkout. If you set these fields to No, your shopper is redirected to an Adyen page, where they can fill out this information. 

We recommend to set these settings to Yes.

Show Date of Birth

Fee

An additional fee that will be added to open invoice payments.

Disable on different billing and delivery addresses If the delivery address and billing address in the checkout is not the same, disable this payment method because Klarna will most likely reject it.
Disable this payment method if first attempt is refused If the first attempt is refused don't show this as an payment option for the current quote.
Payment from applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow open invoice payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow open invoice payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries field below.

SEPA

To set up SEPA payments, click SEPA and fill out the following fields: 

Field

Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Validate IBAN This is a basic validation on the IBAN number.
Flow

Choose the payment flow that you want to use for SEPA payments.

Possible values:

  • Sale – Use immediate automatic capture for SEPA payments. This is the default setting.
  • Auth/Cap – Use the value that you set for Capture Delay in the Adyen Customer Area.

Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow SEPA payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow SEPA payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries setting below.
Visible in Select whether you want to show this payment method in the backend of Magento, in the frontend for your shoppers, or both.

Boleto 

To set up Boleto, click Boleto, and fill out the following fields: 

Field

Description

Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Days for Delivery

The number of days to be added to the current date to set the delivery date.

Boleto Types The bank that the Boleto is issued with.
Use taxvat for CPF or CNPJ If you use taxvat for the CPF/CNPJ field, you can then enable this option to auto fill in the Social Security Number.
Order status underpaid With Boleto, it is possible to pay less than the full amount. Select here the status if this is the case. If you leave this empty it will take the Order status authorised payment as default status.
Order status overpaid With Boleto, it is possible to pay more than the total amount. Select here the status if this is the case. If you leave this empty, it will take the Order status authorised payment as default status.
Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow Boleto payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow Boleto payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries setting below.
Visible in Select whether you want to show this payment method in the backend of Magento, in the frontend for your shoppers, or both.

Apple Pay

To set up Apple Pay, click Apple Pay, and fill out the following fields:

Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Test: Apple Merchant Identifier

Your test Merchant ID from the Apple Developer account.

Live: Apple Merchant Identifier

Your live Merchant ID from the Apple Developer account.

For more information, see Add a Merchant ID to your Apple Developer account.

Test: PEM File location

The full path to your PEM file for test.

Live: PEM File location

The full path to your PEM file for live.

Shipping Type

Select a title to indicate how the purchased items are to be shipped.

Allow Guest Checkout

Specify whether shoppers need to register to make the purchase.

Show payment method as well in the Payment Information step of the checkout

Set this to No to hide the Apple Pay payment method in the checkout.

Apple Pay will still be visible on the product and cart pages.

Show Apple buy button on product and cart page

Set this to No to direct the shopper through the Magento Checkout before using Apple Pay. Use this option if you have shipping options that are not supported in the Apple Pay checkout.

Cash

To set up Cash, click CASH, and fill out the following fields:

Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Create Shipment

Select Yes to have shipment automatically created after an invoice is created.

Cash Express checkout Select Yes to show a checkout button on the shopping cart to directly do a Cash payment without going to the checkout steps. Make sure that you have Cash enabled on your skin and HPP payment method is enabled and correctly configured. You must be logged into your Magento account on the front-end to see the button.

Open Cash Drawer

Open the Cash drawer if you connect this to your printer. This works for all Epson ePOS-Device printers.
IP filter Select Yes to define an IP range when this payment method is visible.
Visible in Select whether you want to show this payment method in the backend of Magento, in the frontend for your shoppers, or both.

Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow Boleto payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow Boleto payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries setting below.

Pay by Mail

Create an order and send an Adyen payment link directly to the shopper. You can customize the page the shopper is redirected to by creating a skin for this purpose. 

With this payment method, the order is automatically created. The shopper sees the payment link in their order confirmation mail, and is redirected from the link to the Adyen HPP. The order is automatically updated through notifications when the shopper has made the payment.

To set up Pay by Mail, click Pay by Mail integration and fill out the following fields:

How many days do you want this payment page to be active.

Skin Code

Code of the skin you want to use (**).

HMAC Key for Live

The HMAC key for the live platform linked to the skin (**).

Visible in

Select whether you want to show this payment method in the backend of Magento, in the frontend for your shoppers, or both.

(**) Leave this empty if you want to use the same skin as in the Adyen HPP settings.
