Set up the payment methods in Magento

Set up the payment methods you wish you offer, and customize how they are shown to your shoppers during checkout. 

To find the sections for setting up the payment methods:

  1. Log in to your Magento admin panel.
  2. In the left navigation bar, go to Stores > Configuration
  3. In the menu, go to Sales > Payment Methods
    After the Advanced settings, you can find the sections for various payment methods, explained below.

API credit card payments 

If you want to offer credit card payments, you need to have Client-Side Encryption (CSE) enabled for your merchant account. On the test environment, this role is enabled by default.

To enable CSE on your live environment:

  1. Download and fill in the PCI Self Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) A
  2. Email it to Support Team.

Once you have confirmation from Adyen Support that CSE is enabled for your account, you can set up API credit cards payments in Magento: 

Click CreditCard API integration and fill out the following fields: 

Field Description

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Credit Card Types Select the credit card type(s) that you want to show during checkout.
Library token of Test Adyen Web Service User

Library token of Live Adyen Web Service User

Advanced Settings

Field

Description

Enable MOTO

Select Yes to enable Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO) without CVC.

To enable this functionality, you first need to contact our Support Team.

Enable Installments

Select Yes to enable installments for each credit card type.

Country Specific Settings

Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow credit card payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow credit card payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries field below.

Stored payment methods

During checkout, your shopper can choose to have their payment details stored for future use. The stored payment methods are shown to the shopper during checkout. 

To confirm that a recurring contract was created, Adyen sends a RECURRING_CONTRACT notification. This notification is not enabled by default. If you want to enable it, contact our  Support Team.

To set up stored payment methods, click Adyen Stored Payment Methods - Requires Adyen Credit Card and fill out the following fields:

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Agreement Type

The type of recurring contracts that are shown during checkout.

Possible values:

  • ONECLICK – show stored payment methods for one-click transactions, where the shopper needs to enter their CVC/CVV to complete the payment.
  • RECURRING – show stored payment methods for recurring transactions, where the shopper can complete the payment without providing additional details.

    If you select ONECLICK here, make sure that you enabled recurring contracts for one-click transactions when you set up Billing Agreements, and similarly for RECURRING.

Redirect payment methods

If you want to offer payments using the redirect method, you need to define a skin in the Adyen test Customer Area, and publish it to live. 

To set up the redirect method, click Hosted Payment Page (HPP) integration, and fill out the following fields:

Field Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Skin Code Code of the skin that you want to use (*).
HMAC Key for Test Skin

The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin (*).

HMAC Key for Live The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin (*).

(*) You noted this down when you set up your Adyen Customer Area .

Klarna\RatePay\Afterpay settings

When making a payment with an open invoice payment method, the shopper has to submit their gender, date of birth, and phone number. You can set the following settings to Yes or No:

  • Show Gender
  • Show Date of Birth
  • Show Phonenumber 

If you set the above settings to Yes, your shopper can fill out this information directly in your checkout. If you set the above settings to No, your shopper is redirected to an Adyen page, where they can fill out this information. We recommend to set these settings to Yes.

Advanced settings

Setting Description
Title The title that indicates the redirect payment methods during the checkout.
Days for Delivery

The number of days to be added to the current date to set the delivery date.

Payment method selection on Adyen Hosted Payment Page (HPP)

Select the payment flow that you want to use.

Select Yes to redirect the shopper to the Adyen HPP to choose their payment method, instead of displaying the payment methods in your checkout. In this case, you have to further specify whether you want to use one-page payment flow, or multi-page payment flow.

Select No to enable directory lookup.

Language locale The language shown to the shopper during checkout. By default, this is the language of your shop in Magento.
ISO Country Code

Determine the payment methods shown to the shopper during checkout. By default, this depends on the billing address of the shopper, however you can override it here.

Point of sale (POS) with Cloud API

Adyen's Cloud API allows your Magento stores to process payments via point-of-sale (POS) terminals.

To set up POS, click POS with Cloud API, and fill out the following fields:

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Unique Terminal ID for Cloud API

The unique ID of the terminal. You can find this in the Adyen Customer Area, under Point of Sale >Terminal Fleet Manager > Unique Terminal Id.

Merchant Account for Cloud API

If you have a separate Adyen merchant account for processing POS payments, enter here the name of this merchant account. Otherwise, leave this field empty.

Agreement Type

If you want to save the payment details of a shopper who is making a POS payment, set here the type of recurring contract that you want to use. Possible values:

  • NONE – Do not enable stored payment methods.
  • ONECLICK – Enable stored payment methods for one-click transactions, where the shopper needs to enter their CVC/CVV to complete the payment.
  • RECURRING – Enable stored payment methods for recurring transactions, where you can complete the payment without the shopper being present.
  • ONECLICK, RECURRING – Enable stored payment methods for both one-click and recurring transactions.

API key for Cloud API TEST

Your Checkout API key for the test environment. You can find this in the Adyen test Customer Area, under Settings > Users > [your web service user] > Checkout API Key.

API key for Cloud API LIVE

Your Checkout API key for the live environment. You can find this in the Adyen live Customer Area, under Settings > Users > [your web service user] > Checkout API Key.

Capture Delay

Enter here the POS Capture Delay that you set in your Adyen Customer Area.

Possible values:

  • immediate – Select this if you set the POS Capture Delay to immediate, or to some fixed amount of time (1 min - 2 days). This is the default value.
  • manual – Select this if you set the POS Capture Delay to manual (manual capture).
Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow POS payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow POS payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries setting below.

SEPA

To set up SEPA payments, click SEPA integration and fill out the following fields:

Pay by Mail

Create an order and send an Adyen payment link directly to the shopper. You can customize the page the shopper is redirected to by creating a skin for this purpose. 

To set up Pay by Mail, click Pay by Mail integration and fill out the following fields:

Session Validity

How many days do you want this payment page to be active.

Skin Code

Code of the skin you want to use (**).

HMAC Key for Test

The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin (**).

HMAC Key for Live

The HMAC key for the live platform linked to the skin (**).

(**) Leave this empty if you want to use the same skin as in the Adyen HPP settings.

Boleto 

To set up Boleto, click Boleto integration, and fill out the following fields:

Boleto Types The bank that the Boleto is issued with.

Days for Delivery

Apple Pay

To set up Apple Pay, click Apple Pay integration, and fill out the following fields:

Test: Apple Merchant Identifier

Your test Merchant ID from the Apple Developer account.

Test: PEM File location

The full path to your PEM file for test.
