[Boleto Bancário](http://thebrazilbusiness.com/article/boleto-bancario-for-beginners) often referred to as Boleto, is a Brazilian voucher-based payment method. The shopper uses a voucher to pay for online services in cash, at an ATM, or online. Because many people in Brazil do not have a bank account or credit card, this is a popular ecommerce payment method. The type of Boleto (voucher) we offer, is **Boleto de Proposta**: the Boleto represents a proposal to provide goods or services. Paying the Boleto means the shopper accepts the offer. Not paying the Boleto before it expires means the shopper declines the offer, and you are no longer obliged to maintain a reservation on the goods or services. The shopper downloads and prints the Boleto and presents it to the cashier in a bank or registered shop such as a lottery agent, convenience store, or supermarket. * Pay at an ATM. The shopper scans the Boleto barcode or enters the barcode number. * Pay online. The shopper logs in to their bank's website or app and copies the Boleto barcode number. Boleto Bancário payments are guaranteed, so there is no chargeback risk. If a Boleto is not paid before the due date, the corresponding transaction remains open in your [Customer Area](https://ca-test.adyen.com/) for 15 days.
