[View source](/platforms/managed-payouts.md) Managed payouts allow you to automate fund payouts to users on your balance platform using Adyen’s most efficient payout logic. If you want to pay out to multiple users on the same schedule, you can create a managed payout schedule for your balance platform and apply it to balance accounts with the same location and currency. You can create managed payout schedules with the help of your Adyen contact. During the creation process, your Adyen contact recommends optimal configuration parameters for your payout schedule. These parameters depend on the following: * The time of day when you want your users to receive the funds. * The [sales day closing time](/platforms/settle-funds/configure-closing-time) of your user. * The time zone of your user. ## Requirements Before you begin, take into account the following limitations and preparations: | Requirement | Description | | --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Limitations** | * You can only use one managed payout schedule per currency on each balance account. * Each managed payout schedule only supports one location and currency. * With managed payout schedules, you can only configure local payouts (within the same country and currency). If you want to pay out in a different currency, or to a bank account registered in a different country, use [custom payouts](/platforms/custom-payouts). * Managed payouts don't affect the settlement of payments on [pass-through](/platforms/settle-funds/pass-through-settlement) or [sales day payouts](/platforms/settle-funds) of T+7 or more. The settlements of these payments happens according to the indicated delay and will be paid out once settled. | | **Setup steps** | Reach out to your Adyen contact to set up managed payout schedules. | ## How it works You typically configure payout schedules for your balance platform when you are [building your integration](/platforms/get-started#build-your-integration). With the help of your Adyen contact, you can set up configuration parameters that are optimal for your use case. The following table shows some of the configuration parameters that are used in the example use case below. | Configuration parameter | Description | | --------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Type of payout schedule** | Specifies how fast the funds are [settled](/platforms/settle-funds) and paid out to your user. You can select one of the following: - **Standard**: The funds arrive in your user's bank account two days after settlement. - **Accelerated**: The funds arrive in your user's bank account the day after settlement. | | **Payout frequency** | Specifies how frequently you want to pay out funds. You can choose one of the following frequencies: - On weekdays - Weekly, on a day of your choice - Monthly, on a date of your choice If you choose a weekly or monthly frequency, the payout on a chosen day/date will include funds up to one or days before the payout date. For example, if you want to pay out the funds for an entire month, you must choose as a payout date the 2nd of the month, and not 30th or 1st. | | **Payout ETA** | The estimated time when the payout funds will arrive in your user's transfer instrument. Your managed payout schedule will reflect the optimal ETAs based on: - Cut-off times for your location and currency. - Specified agreements in your contract with Adyen. | | **Payout amount** | You can specify the following: - The minimum and maximum amounts that can be paid out. - The retained amount that must always remain available in a balance account after a payout. | | **Payout description** | The text that your users see on their bank statements when they receive payouts. Your Adyen contact helps you set up a description that complies with local bank regulations. | ### Example use case You want to automatically pay out to all your US users in the following way: * Pay out the funds two days after a sale is processed. * Pay out funds only if a user's available balance is more than USD 200. * The payout funds must arrive in the user's [bank account](/platforms/manage-transfer-instruments) every business day. * Your user's balance account must have at least USD 100 to cover possible refunds. To create a managed payout schedule for this use case: 1. Reach out to your Adyen contact and tell them about your use case. 2. With the help of your Adyen contact, create a payout schedule with the following characteristics: * **Type of payout schedule**: Standard * **Payout frequency**: on weekdays * **Payout ETA**: 9 AM in your user's local time * **Minimum payout amount**: USD 200 * **Retained amount**: USD 100 * **Payout description**: "Payout from \[YOUR\_PLATFORM\_NAME]" 3. [Apply the managed payout schedule to your users' balance accounts](/platforms/managed-payouts/use-managed-payouts#apply-schedule-balance-account). After your integration is live, you can reach out to your Adyen contact to update or add new payout schedules. ## Pay out in multiple locations and currencies You must have a payout schedule for each location where you want to make payouts. If Adyen supports multiple payout currencies in a location, you must create a schedule for each currency that you want to use. For example, you want to schedule payouts for users in the EU, US, and Canada. In Canada, you want to make payouts using both CAD and USD. For this use case, you need: * A schedule for the EU where the payout currency is EUR. * A schedule for the US where the payout currency is USD. * Two schedules for Canada: one schedule for payouts in CAD and another schedule for payouts in USD. ## See also * [Configure custom payout schedules](/platforms/custom-payouts/scheduled-payouts) * [Initiate on-demand payouts](/platforms/custom-payouts/on-demand-payouts/) ## Next steps [Use managed payouts](/platforms/managed-payouts/use-managed-payouts) [Learn how you can use managed payouts on your balance platform.](/platforms/managed-payouts/use-managed-payouts) [View payout executions](/platforms/managed-payouts/view-payout-executions) [View all payout executions of a managed payout schedule on your balance account.](/platforms/managed-payouts/view-payout-executions)
