Migrating to version 7.0.0

Learn about the changes in Adyen Magento 2 plugin version 7.0.0.

On this page, we describe the changes that you need to do in your existing integration when migrating to version 7.0.0 or later.

To be able to use Adyen's Magento 2 plugin version 7.0.0, your Magento version must be v.2.2.9 or later.

Step 1: Upgrade your plugin

Follow the instructions to upgrade your plugin to version 7.0.0.

Version 7.0.0 has breaking changes, so make sure to fully test your integration before going live. If you're having problem with stored payment methods because of the upgrade, contact our Support Team.

Step 2: Generate a client key

Starting from version 7.0.0, the plugin needs the client key to show the input fields for card details.

The client key is linked to one or more allowed origins — the domains from which we expect to get your client-side requests. For example, if you're collecting shopper's payment information at: https://example.org/checkout, you would need to link the domain https://example.org as an allowed origin to your client key.

To generate a client key:

  1. Log in to your Customer Area.
  2. Go to Developers > API credentials, and select the API credential for your integration, for example ws@Company.[YourCompanyAccount].
  3. Add your domains under Allowed origins. These are the domains from which you will be sending your client-side requests.
  4. Under Authentication, select Generate New Client Key.
  5. Select Save.

You now have a client key for your test environment. To get a client key for your live environment, follow the same steps in your live Customer Area.

You will need to copy the test and live client keys and add them in the Magento admin panel.

Step 3: Set up Apple Pay

Starting from version 7.0.0, the plugin implements Apple Pay using Adyen's Apple Pay certificate, and renders it from the Alternative payment methods list.

If you were already using Apple Pay with an earlier plugin version, you first need to deactivate Apple Pay:

  1. Log in to your Customer Area.
  2. Go to Account > Payment methods.
  3. Select the check box next to Apple Pay.
  4. Select Deactivate at the bottom of the page.

Then follow the steps below to set up Apple Pay with the new version of the plugin:

  1. Add Apple Pay in your Customer Area, and provide the following information:
    • Your main website URL. For example https://www.mystore.com.
    • Other domains you use for your shop website. For example https://www.mystore1.com or https://www.mystore2.com.
  2. Download and unzip the domain association file.
  3. Host the domain association file with the name apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association on each domain you want to use, under the following path:

    /.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
  4. Make sure that Alternative payment methods are activated in your Magento configuration. Apple Pay will be rendered from this list.
