Set up the payment methods in Magento

Set up the payment methods you want you offer, and customize how they are shown to your shoppers during checkout.

Starting from version 4.1.0, our plugin renders payment methods based on what is enabled in your Adyen Customer Area. Before you set up the payment methods in Magento, make sure to enable all payment methods that you want to offer to your shoppers.

For a list of all payment methods supported by the plugin, refer to Supported payment methods.

Some payment methods require extra steps in the Magento backend. To find the sections for setting up these payment methods:

  1. Log in to your Magento admin panel.
  2. In the left navigation bar, go to Stores > Configuration
  3. In the menu, go to Sales > Payment Methods
    After the Advanced settings, you can find the sections for various payment methods, explained below.

API credit card payments

To set up credit card payments, select CreditCard API integration and fill out the following fields: 

Field Description
Enabled

Select Yes to enable this payment method.

Title

The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

Sort Order

The position of this payment method during checkout.

Credit Card Types Select the credit card type(s) that you want to show during checkout.
Vault Enabled Select Yes to use the Magento Vault to store shoppers' payment details.

3DS2.0 Enabled

Select Yes to enable 3D Secure 2 natively within your app or payment form.
For more information, refer to 3D Secure for regulation compliance.

Advanced Settings

Field

Description

Enable Installments

Select Yes to enable installments for each credit card type.

Country Specific Settings

Payment from Applicable countries

Possible values:

  • All Allowed Countries – Allow credit card payments from all allowed countries.
  • Specific Countries – Allow credit card payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries field below.

Alternative payment methods

Field Description
Enabled Select Yes to enable the local payment methods that have been configured for your merchant account in the Adyen Customer Area. In our later plugin version 7.0.0, Apple Pay and Google Pay are rendered from the Alternative Payment Method list.
Sort Order The position of this payment method during checkout.

Ratepay

Enter the unique RatePAY ID provided by your Ratepay integration consultant.

Advanced settings

Setting Description
Title The title that indicates the alternative payment methods during the checkout.
Language locale The language shown to the shopper during checkout. By default, this is the language of your shop in Magento.
ISO Country Code

Determine the payment methods shown to the shopper during checkout. By default, this depends on the billing address of the shopper, however you can override it here.

Apple Pay

The steps for adding Apple Pay depend on which version of the plugin you're using:

  1. Add Apple Pay as a payment method in your live Customer Area and provide the following information:
    • Your main website URL. For example https://www.mystore.com.
    • Other domains you use for your shop website. For example https://www.mystore1.com or https://www.mystore2.com.
    • Optional: Any additional shop websites.
  2. Download and unzip the domain association file.
  3. Host the domain association file with the name apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association on each domain you want to use, under the following path:

    /.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
  4. Make sure that Alternative payment methods are activated in your Magento configuration.

If you are using a plugin version earlier than 7.0.0, you need to set up Apple Pay by following these instructions:

  • Refer to Enable Apple Pay and follow the instructions:

  • In Magento, select Apple Pay integration and fill in the following fields: 

    Field Description
    Enabled Select Yes to enable this payment method.
    Title The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.
    Sort Order The position of this payment method during checkout.
    Test: Apple Merchant Identifier The merchant identifier you created for test.
    Live: Apple Merchant Identifier The merchant identifier you created for live.
    Test: PEM File location The full path to the PEM file containing the merchant identity certificate you created for test.
    Live: PEM File location The full path to the PEM file containing the merchant identity certificate you created for live.
  • Testing

    Use Apple's test card numbers to test your integration.

    Check the status of an Apple Pay test payment in your Customer Area > Transactions >  Payments.

    Google Pay

    The steps for adding Google Pay depend on which version of the plugin you're using:

    To set up Google Pay, it is enough to add it in your Customer Area. Google Pay is then rendered from the Alternative Payment Methods list.

    1. Add Google Pay in your Customer Area.
    2. In your Magento admin panel, go to Google Pay integration, and fill out the following fields:

      Enabled

      Select Yes to enable this payment method.

      Title

      The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

      Sort Order

      The position of this payment method during checkout.

      Google Merchant Identifier

      Your Google Merchant ID from Google Pay Developer Profile.

      Required for accepting live payments. Leave empty for test.

    Boleto

    To set up Boleto, select Boleto integration, and fill out the following fields:

    The title that indicates this payment method during checkout.

    Sort Order

    The position of this payment method during checkout.

    Days for Delivery

    The number of days to be added to the current date to set the delivery date.

     

    Payment from Applicable countries

    Possible values:

    • All Allowed Countries – Allow Boleto payments from all allowed countries.
    • Specific Countries – Allow Boleto payments only from countries specified in the Payment from Specific Countries setting below.

    Pay by Mail

    Create an order and send an Adyen payment link directly to the shopper.

    Set up the Pay by Mail redirect page

    To set up the page that your shopper is redirected to after they click the payment link, you need to create a skin in your Adyen Customer Area. Before you go live, you also need to publish the skin to live.

    Set up and enable Pay by Mail

    To set up Pay by Mail, select Pay by Mail integration and fill out the following fields:

    Session Validity

    How many days do you want this payment page to be active.

    Skin Code

    Code of the skin you want to use.

    HMAC Key for Test

    The HMAC key for the test platform linked to the skin.

    HMAC Key for Live

    The HMAC key for the live platform linked to the skin.

    Use Pay by Mail

    After you have set up Pay by Mail and the redirect page, you can start to use Pay by Mail.

    1. In your Magento admin panel, go to Sales > Orders > Create New Order > Create New Customer (or select an existing) > Select a store > Add Products > Select Pay By Mail.

    MOTO

    If you want to use MOTO, contact our Support Team.

    Once our team confirms that MOTO has been set up for your account, you can start to use MOTO.

    1. In your Magento admin panel, go to to Sales > Orders > Create New Order > Create New Customer (or select an existing) > Select a store > Add Products > Select Credit Card.

    Next steps
