{"title":"PayPal and Venmo","category":"default","creationDate":1791457010,"content":"<p>PayPal or Venmo point-of-sale payments work in the same way as other <a href=\"\/point-of-sale\/qr-code-wallets\">QR code wallet payments<\/a> at the point of sale. However, a special onboarding flow applies, and you can test your integration using a test app provided by PayPal.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"onboarding-paypal\">Onboard with PayPal\/Venmo<\/h2>\n<p>To enable point-of-sale PayPal or Venmo transactions through Adyen, you need to have PayPal sandbox and business accounts exclusively for Adyen point of sale. We then need to configure settings for you, both on your PayPal accounts and on the Adyen side.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-notice note\"><div>\n<p>You cannot use a PayPal account that you may already have for online payments or for an integration with another payment services provider.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Create a PayPal developer account, if you do not have one already.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.paypal.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">https:\/\/developer.paypal.com<\/a> and select <span translate=\"no\"><strong>Log in to Dashboard<\/strong><\/span> &gt; <span translate=\"no\"><strong>Sign up<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<!-- list separator -->\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Create PayPal sandbox user accounts exclusively for Adyen point of sale. We can then add the stores under your Adyen merchant account to your PayPal account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Implement a payment flow<\/h2>\n<p>For PayPal and Venmo we support all <a href=\"\/point-of-sale\/qr-code-wallets#qr-code-payment-flows\">QR code payment flows<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Merchant-presented from terminal: you launch the QR code from the terminal.<\/li>\n<li>Merchant-presented from POS app: you launch the QR code through your payment request.<\/li>\n<li>Consumer-presented: you scan the QR code that the shopper launched on their phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Merchant-presented from terminal<\/h3>\n<p>To launch a PayPal or Venmo QR code from the terminal:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Initiate a payment.<\/li>\n<li>On the terminal, select <strong>Wallets<\/strong> and then either PayPal or Venmo.<\/li>\n<li>Hand the terminal to the shopper, so they can scan the QR code with their mobile phone and verify the payment.<\/li>\n<li>You receive the result of the payment, as you would <a href=\"\/point-of-sale\/basic-tapi-integration\/make-a-payment#payment-response\">receive the result of a card payment<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Refer support <a href=\"\/point-of-sale\/basic-tapi-integration\/refund-payment\/referenced\">referenced refunds<\/a>, so you'll have to make a <code>ReversalRequest<\/code> to refund a QR code wallet payment. Both full and partial referenced refunds are allowed.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"testing-paypal\">Testing PayPal\/Venmo<\/h2>\n<p>To try out PayPal or Venmo payments, you can use the Adyen simulator as described in <a href=\"\/point-of-sale\/testing-pos-payments#testing-qr-code-wallets\">Testing QR code wallets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But you can also use a test app and a sandbox environment provided by PayPal. The test app is an iOS app for both PayPal and Venmo. An Android test app will be available soon.<\/p>\n<p>To use the PayPal test app:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"#onboarding-paypal\">Onboard with PayPal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Contact us, and provide us with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The email address where you want to receive emails from PayPal and us about the test app.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Your company logo in PNG format with a resolution of 150 ppi.
