[View source](/point-of-sale/pos-troubleshooting/terminal-turns-on/admin-pin.md) On the payment terminal, the access to menu options like network settings and software updates is restricted. To open such menu options, you need to enter a passcode. ## Android: Enter passcode When you try to access a restricted option on an Android terminal, the display shows *Enter passcode*. * For **Settings** menu options: enter the passcode that is set up in your Customer Area under **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** > **Terminal passcodes** > **Admin & Settings**. * For **Transactions** menu options: enter the passcode that is set up in your Customer Area under **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** > **Terminal passcodes** > **Transactions**. See [Get the passcode from your Customer Area](#get-passcode). ## Non-Android: Admin menu The **Admin** menu contains several menus with restricted access. 1. Go to the Admin menu: * On terminals with a keypad, select **9** and then the **Confirm** key **![](/images/1/9/d/b/6/19db69a93d641f6391db65a1563de3ade9ce55bb-confirm2x.png)**. * On legacy models, select the **Confirm** key and then **9**. * On terminals without keypad, select the **Menu** button ![](/user/pages/reuse/image-library/buttons/apps-menu/apps.svg?decoding=auto\&fetchpriority=auto) and then **Admin**. 2. In the **Admin menu** box, enter the passcode that is set up in your Customer Area under **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** > **Terminal passcodes** > **Admin & Settings**.\ See [Get the passcode from your Customer Area](#get-passcode). 3. Select **Confirm**. ## Standalone non-Android: Payment menu On standalone non-Android terminals that use the [old menu structure](/point-of-sale/menu-access#old-menu-structure), the special payments menu lets you do special transactions like manual key entry or unreferenced refunds. 1. Select **8** and then the **Confirm** key **![](/images/1/9/d/b/6/19db69a93d641f6391db65a1563de3ade9ce55bb-confirm2x.png)**. 2. In the **Payment menu** box, enter the passcode that is set up in your Customer Area under **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** > **Terminal passcodes** > **Transactions**.\ See [Get the passcode from your Customer Area](#get-passcode). 3. Select the **Confirm** key. When you select **Refund** or **MOTO refund**, it is possible that the terminal asks for a password again. If this happens: * Enter the passcode that is set up in your Customer Area under **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** > **Terminal passcodes** > **Unreferenced refunds**. ## Get the passcode from your Customer Area To get the passcode from your Customer Area, you need the [following role](/account/user-roles#pos): * **Merchant POS Terminal Management Admin role** To get this role, contact your company's admin. 1. In your [Customer Area](https://ca-test.adyen.com/), go to **In-person payments** > **Terminal settings** or select a specific terminal by serial number. The **Device info** on the terminal contains the serial number. Refer to the [manual for your terminal model](/point-of-sale/pos-troubleshooting/getting-started-with-your-terminal). 2. Select **Passcodes**. 3. To view the passcodes, under **Terminal passcodes** select **Decrypted** and select the view icon **for the passcode you want to see. * **Transactions**: the passcode to access **Transactions** menu options on Android terminals, or the **Payment** menu on standalone non-Android terminals. * **Admin & Settings**: the passcode to access **Settings** menu options on Android terminals, or the **Admin** menu on non-Android terminals. * **Unreferenced refunds**: the passcode to start an unreferenced refund on a standalone terminal. ## Contact our Support team If the above solution did not solve the problem, contact us directly.
