Connect the V240m to your network

Connect the V240m to your Wi-Fi network, so that it can communicate with the Adyen payments platform and your own back end systems. If you have a bluetooth base, you can alternatively connect the terminal to the base station using bluetooth.

Connect to Wi-Fi

If the terminal is not yet boarded:

  1. Select the Configure Network button on the display.
  2. Select 2. Wifi.
  3. Select 1. Turn on Wi-Fi to make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on.
  4. The terminal will begin scanning for Wi-Fi networks.
  5. Choose the desired network and enter the wireless password.
  6. The terminal sets the network as default automatically, and connects to it.
  7. Exit the network menu to begin boarding the device.

If the terminal is boarded:

  1. Press 9 and then press 
  2. Enter the PIN code for the Admin menu and press . If you don't know this code, see our POS Troubleshooting section.
  3. Select 1. Network.
  4. Select 2. Wifi.
  5. Select 3. Add networks.
  6. Select the name of the network and enter the password.
  7. The terminal sets the network as default automatically, and connects to it.

Connect to base station with bluetooth

To connect the terminal to the base station: 

  1. Plug the power supply into the power input of the base station, and dock the V240m. 
  2. On the terminal, press 9 and then press 
  3. Enter the PIN code for the Admin menu and press . If you don't know this code, see our POS Troubleshooting section.
  4. Select 1. Network, and then 3. Bluetooth.
  5. Press the button on the front of the base station to make it discoverable. 
    A blue light flashes on the base station.
  6. On the terminal, select 3. Scan/Discovery, and then 1. Scan.
  7. Select the base station that you want to connect to. 
    The base station will be listed with its serial number as its name. The terminal pairs with the base, and then connects. When connected successfully, the blue LED light on the base station remains turned on.

If you have more than one terminal and base station, ensure you know which terminal is paired to which base station. After a terminal is paired to a base station, it should remain paired with it.

Change the default credentials of the base station

Each bluetooth base station comes with a default username and password. Before you start processing live transactions, you need to change the username and password of the base station. 

To change the username and password of the base station: 

  1. Press 9 and then press 
  2. Enter the PIN code for the Admin menu and press . If you don't know this code, see our POS Troubleshooting section.
  3. Select 1. Network3. Bluetooth, and then 3. Scan/Discovery.
  4. Select the base station from the list of devices. If you have several base stations, use the serial number to select the correct base station. 
  5. On the terminal, select 3. Info.
  6. Make sure that Cable is set to up
  7. Note the IP address of the base station.
  8. In your browser, go to https://[IP address of your base station]
    You are redirected to the Verifone portal. 
  9. Log in with your default username and password for the base station. If you don't know these credentials, contact the POS Support Team
  10. Go to Administration
  11. Enter a new username and password for the base station, then click Save

(Optional) Configure a static IP address

By default, DHCP is enabled on the payment terminal. With this setting, your DHCP server assigns an IP address to the terminal. If you are not able to use a DHCP server, you need to disable DHCP and define a static IP address for the terminal:

  1. On the connected terminal, go to the Admin menu:
    1. Select 9 and then Confirm. (On some models, it is Confirm and then 9.)
    2. Enter the Admin PIN code and select the Confirm button.

  2. Select Network and then, depending on your connection type:
    Connection type Select
    Wired Ethernet.
    Wireless WiFi > select your Wi-Fi network > IP Settings.
    Bluetooth Bluetooth > IP Settings.
  3. In IP Settings, clear the Use DHCP check box.
  4. Enter your network details. To type a period (.), press 1 twice. Enter the IP address, the Subnet mask, the Default gateway, the Preferred DNS, and the Alternate DNS.
    The static IP address must be unique in the network and, if you have more than one terminal, unique for each terminal.
  5. Select Apply.
