{"title":"Multifactor authentication","category":"default","creationDate":1686147720,"content":"<p>All users with an Adyen Customer Area account must set up Multifactor Authentication (MFA) or <a href=\"\/pt\/account\/single-sign-on\/\">Single Sign-On<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>MFA keeps your account secure by requiring an additional form of verification in order to log in. This prevents unauthorized users from accessing your account, even if they have obtained your username and password.<\/p>\n<p>Each user can set up one authentication method per device and register two devices through MFA. If you have the <strong>Merchant admin<\/strong> role, you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>See user details by going to <strong>Account<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Users<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#manage-devices\">Manage user access<\/a> by removing devices registered to users in your organization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>, you have two ways to set up MFA for your account:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>With an <a href=\"#authenticator-app\">authenticator app<\/a>, such as Google Authenticator, Okta Verify, or Microsoft Authenticator, which generates time-based one-time passwords on your mobile device.<\/li>\n<li>With <a href=\"#sms-authentication\">SMS authentication<\/a>, which sends SMS messages with time-based one-time passwords on your mobile device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Before you begin, take into account the following requirements and limitations.<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Requirement<\/th>\n<th>Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Integration type<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>An integration with Adyen.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Limitations<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>SMS authentication is only available in the live environment.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Hardware<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>You must have a verification device: a mobile device that can either run an authenticator app or receive SMS messages.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2 id=\"authenticator-app\">Set up MFA with an authenticator app<\/h2>\n<p>You must set up MFA on your device the first time you log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Enter a device name in the <strong>Create device name<\/strong> field.<\/li>\n<li>Scan the QR barcode to create a new account in the authenticator app on your device.
