If you are just starting your implementation, refer to our <a href=\"\/pt\/adyen-for-platforms-model\">new integration guide<\/a> instead.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>As required by payment industry regulations, account holders must pass verification checks before you can pay out to them. Account holders are generally required to provide more information after:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They process their first payment.<\/li>\n<li>They advance to the <a href=\"\/pt\/classic-platforms\/onboard-users#verification-tiers\">next tier<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following diagram illustrates the verification process when an account holder signs up to your platform.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"\" src=\"\/user\/pages\/docs\/06.classic-platforms\/06.verification-process\/verification-process.svg?decoding=auto&amp;fetchpriority=auto\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The account holder provides information when they sign up on your platform, which Adyen uses to verify them.<\/li>\n<li>Adyen checks if there are requirements that they need to meet, and runs the required verification based on the details they provided. If the account holder needs to provide more information, they must submit the information within a <a href=\"#inactivation-suspension-deadline\">deadline<\/a>. Adyen communicates all of these events and timelines through notification webhooks.<\/li>\n<li>If the verification fails, the account holder can retry the verification by providing new or revised details. They can also provide additional documents.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the verification is successful, the account holder may start receiving payouts. If verification fails, payouts will not be enabled.<\/p>\n<h2>Required information<\/h2>\n<p>Adyen determines the required information for checks based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The account holder's legal entity type.<\/li>\n<li>The country they are operating in.<\/li>\n<li>Their current tier.<\/li>\n<li>The account holder's <a href=\"\/pt\/classic-platforms\/verification-process\/legal-arrangements\">legal arrangements<\/a>, if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To get a complete list of requirements, refer to <a href=\"\/pt\/classic-platforms\/verification-process\/required-information\">verification requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"identify-ubos\">Owners, controllers, and signatories<\/h3>\n<p>As part of the checks for an organization, Adyen also verifies the identity of <em>all<\/em> individuals that are associated with the organization. We refer to these individuals as <em>owners<\/em>, <em>controllers<\/em>, and <em>signatories<\/em>. The table below describes the criteria for identifying them, and the minimum required number for each.<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>Who<\/th>\n<th>Criteria<\/th>\n<th>Required number of individuals<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>Owners<\/td>\n<td>Individuals who directly or indirectly own 25% or more of the total shares, voting rights or other equity in the organization.<\/td>\n<td>Between <em>zero to four<\/em>. Adyen requires information about all individuals that fit this criterion.<br><br> If no one owns 25% or more of the organization, then your user must provide information about a controller.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Controllers<\/td>\n<td>Any individuals who exercise ultimate effective control in making decisions for the whole company. If such an individual cannot be identified, then members of senior management must be identified as controllers.<\/td>\n<td><em>At least one<\/em>. Adyen requires information about all individuals that fit this criterion.<br><br> For the United States of America it is required that <em>at least one individual is identified<\/em>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Signatories<\/td>\n<td>Officers or representatives who legally represent the organization towards Adyen and are authorised to enter a binding agreement with Adyen on behalf of their organization.<\/td>\n<td><em>At least one<\/em>. All signatories are required to be identified.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2 id=\"inactivation-suspension-deadline\">Deadlines for providing information<\/h2>\n<p>The account holder needs to provide the required information within a deadline. If the information is not sent to Adyen in a timely manner, the account holder status will be changed to inactive, and eventually suspended. You can still update the account holder data to proceed with the verification.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>42 days after the account holder status was set to <span translate=\"no\"><strong>Inactive<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td><span translate=\"no\"><strong>Suspended<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td>The account holder status is changed to <span translate=\"no\"><strong>Suspended<\/strong><\/span>. All payments that have not been paid out to the account holder are refunded. <br><br> If you want to update the account holder data to continue with the verification, you must <a href=\"#unsuspend\">unsuspend<\/a> the account holder first.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>If an account holder cannot meet a deadline, you can choose to <a href=\"#deadline-extensions\">extend the deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"notices blue\">\n<p>You can collect information from the account holder and continue the verification at any time after the deadlines. When they pass the verification, the account holder status is set back to <span translate=\"no\"><strong>Active<\/strong><\/span>. They can also start processing payments and payouts again.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"deadline-notifications\">Notifications for upcoming deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>Seven days before the account holder inactivation or suspension, Adyen sends an  <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.adyen.com\/api-explorer\/Notification\/latest\/post\/ACCOUNT_HOLDER_UPCOMING_DEADLINE\" class=\"codeLabel  external-link no-image\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">ACCOUNT_HOLDER_UPCOMING_DEADLINE<\/a> notification. You can get the actual date in the <code>executionDate<\/code> field, in  YYYY-MM-DD format.<\/p>\n<p>When you receive the notification, we recommend that you follow up and remind the account holder to submit the required information.<\/p>\n<h3>Example timeline for deadlines<\/h3>\n<p>For example, if a new account holder signs up, and processes their first payment on <strong>March 5th<\/strong>, they will be required to submit information for verification. The following deadlines apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>April 5th<\/strong>: Account holder status will be set to inactive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>May 18th<\/strong>: Account holder status will be set to suspended.<br \/>\n<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><img alt=\"Account suspension\" src=\"\/user\/pages\/docs\/06.classic-platforms\/06.verification-process\/AccountSuspension.svg?decoding=auto&amp;fetchpriority=auto\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br><\/p>\n<p>If you want to collect information and continue the verification after <strong>May 18th<\/strong>, you must <a href=\"#unsuspend\">unsuspend the account holder<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"deadline-extensions\">Deadline extensions<\/h2>\n<p>The account holder may not be able to meet the inactivation or suspension deadline due to valid reasons. In these cases, you can extend the deadline for an additional <em>one week<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>You can only extend the deadline <em>once during each deadline period<\/em>: once during the account inactivation (T+30 days) and once during the suspension deadline (T+30+42 days).<\/p>\n<p>When you extend the deadline for account holder inactivation, the counter for the suspension deadline starts after the extension. The new suspension deadline will be T+30+<em>7<\/em>+42 days.<\/p>\n<h3>Extend a deadline<\/h3>\n<p>You can extend the deadline in your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>. Your Customer Area user must have the <strong>Merchant Extended Marketplace<\/strong> user role.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Platform<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Sub-merchants<\/strong>. Find the account holder and select <strong>Extend one week<\/strong> in the account holder overview.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The <strong>Extend one week<\/strong> button appears dimmed and is not available if you have previously extended the deadline.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"unsuspend\">Unsuspending an account holder<\/h2>\n<p>You can only unsuspend account holders if they did not fail any verification checks (<a href=\"\/pt\/classic-platforms\/verification-process\/check-verification-results#verification-statuses\">\n  <code>status<\/code>\n<\/a> <span translate=\"no\"><strong>FAILED<\/strong><\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>When an account holder has been suspended because they didn't meet a <a href=\"#inactivation-suspension-deadline\">deadline<\/a>, unsuspending them resets the deadline. They have 42 days to provide information before they are suspended again. You can unsuspend them as many times as you need to. You can get the actual date in the executionDate field, in  YYYY-MM-DD format.\nWhen you receive the notification, we recommend that you follow up and remind the account holder to submit the required information.\nExample timeline for deadlines\nFor example, if a new account holder signs up, and processes their first payment on March 5th, they will be required to submit information for verification. The following deadlines apply:\n\nApril 5th: Account holder status will be set to inactive.\nMay 18th: Account holder status will be set to suspended.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you want to collect information and continue the verification after May 18th, you must unsuspend the account holder.\nDeadline extensions\nThe account holder may not be able to meet the inactivation or suspension deadline due to valid reasons. In these cases, you can extend the deadline for an additional one week.\nYou can only extend the deadline once during each deadline period: once during the account inactivation (T+30 days) and once during the suspension deadline (T+30+42 days).\nWhen you extend the deadline for account holder inactivation, the counter for the suspension deadline starts after the extension. The new suspension deadline will be T+30+7+42 days.\nExtend a deadline\nYou can extend the deadline in your Customer Area. Your Customer Area user must have the Merchant Extended Marketplace user role.\n\nLog in to your Customer Area.\nGo to Platform &gt; Sub-merchants. Find the account holder and select Extend one week in the account holder overview.\n\nThe Extend one week button appears dimmed and is not available if you have previously extended the deadline.\nUnsuspending an account holder\nYou can only unsuspend account holders if they did not fail any verification checks (\n  status\n FAILED).\nWhen an account holder has been suspended because they didn't meet a deadline, unsuspending them resets the deadline. They have 42 days to provide information before they are suspended again. You can unsuspend them as many times as you need to. Once unsuspended, their status changes from Suspended to Inactive, allowing you to update their information.\nTo unsuspend an account holder, you can use Customer Area or make an API request.\n\n\n    \n        \n        \n    \n\n\nAccount holder statuses\nThe account holder status indicates whether an account holder can process payments and payouts. You can check the status of an account holder in the Customer Area, in the API response, and in webhook notifications.\n\n\n\nStatus\nUpdating&nbsp;data  allowed?\nPayments  allowed?\nPayouts  allowed?\nDescription\n\n\n\n\nActive\n\n\n\nThe default status of an active account holder, where payment processing and payouts are enabled.Payouts can be disabled when the account holder has not yet provided the required information for verification checks, or is required to provide additional information, for example in case of staggered verification.\n\n\nInactive\n\n\n\nThe account holder did not provide information required for verification checks within the 30-day time limit.  When the account holder provides the required information, their status is restored to Active.\n\n\nSuspended\n\n\n\nThe account holder did not provide information required for verification checks within the 6-week\u00a0time \u00a0limit or they failed verification checks (checks.status FAILED). When an account holder is suspended, make sure to hide or remove the account holder from your platform to prevent processing of funds.Once suspended, you can only unsuspend or  close the account holder if none of the verification checks have a failed status. When you unsuspend them, the status goes back to Inactive.\n\n\nClosed\n\n\n\nThe account holder has been closed and no operations are allowed.
