{"title":"Run hardware tests","category":"default","creationDate":1776961627,"content":"<p>On the payment terminal, you can run tests to verify the state of the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chip card reader.<\/li>\n<li>Magnetic swipe reader.<\/li>\n<li>Keypad (on terminal models that have a physical keypad).<\/li>\n<li>NFC antenna for contactless payments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you start a test, the display shows instructions and animated illustrations to explain how to carry out the test (see the <a href=\"#example-test\">example<\/a>). During the keypad test, the key beeps will sound at the standard volume. After the test, the terminal will return to using the volume that is configured for the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Test results are added to the terminal log, and sent to our back end during the automatic maintenance call.<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Before you begin, take into account the following requirements and limitations.<\/p>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th style=\"text-align: left;\">Requirement<\/th>\n<th style=\"text-align: left;\">Description<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Integration type<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\">A <a href=\"\/pt\/point-of-sale\/get-started\">Terminal API integration<\/a> or <a href=\"\/pt\/point-of-sale\/standalone\">Standalone solution<\/a> using Adyen payment terminals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Hardware<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"text-align: left;\">This feature is available on all non-legacy terminal models.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2>Test the terminal hardware<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>On the payment terminal, go to the <strong>Hardware diagnostics<\/strong> menu:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Diagnostics<\/strong> and scroll down to the <strong>Hardware<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n<li>On <em>non-Android<\/em> terminal models that use the <a href=\"\/pt\/point-of-sale\/menu-access#old-menu-structure\">old menu structure<\/a> and have a keypad, select the star key <i class=\"adl-icon-star-outline icon\"><\/i> and then <strong>Confirm<\/strong> <strong><img alt=\"\" src=\"\/images\/e\/1\/f\/d\/f\/e1fdf2ab953d26666e876b743ce54acaa22e7206-confirm2x.png\" \/><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>On <em>non-Android<\/em> terminal models that use the <a href=\"\/pt\/point-of-sale\/menu-access#old-menu-structure\">old menu structure<\/a> and do not have a keypad, select the <strong>Menu<\/strong> button <img alt=\"\" src=\"\/user\/pages\/reuse\/image-library\/buttons\/apps-menu\/apps.svg?decoding=auto&amp;fetchpriority=auto\" \/> and then <strong>Hardware diagnostics<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Select the test that you want to run.<br \/>\nA green <span style=\"color: green;\"><i class=\"adl-icon-circle-filled\"><\/i><\/span> or red <span style=\"color: red;\"><i class=\"adl-icon-circle-filled\"><\/i><\/span> circle shown next to a test indicates the result of the previous time that the test was carried out.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>On <em>non-Android<\/em> terminals, you need to select the arrow <img style=\"width: 40px;\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/user\/pages\/docs\/03.point-of-sale\/52.pos-troubleshooting\/04.hardware-tests\/bttn-round-icon.svg?decoding=auto&amp;fetchpriority=auto\" \/> to start the test.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Follow the on-screen instructions to carry out the test.<\/p>\n<div class=\"notices yellow\">\n<p>If the terminal becomes unresponsive during the test, select the <strong>Report issue<\/strong> button.
