Create a payment link<\/h2>\n<p>To create a payment link:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Switch to your merchant account.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Go to <strong>Pay by Link<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Payment links<\/strong><br \/>\n1.vSelect <strong>Create payment link<\/strong>. The next page confirms the payment link was created.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"send\">2. Send the payment link to your shopper<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p>On the payment link confirmation page, select <strong>Copy link<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Below is an example payment link.<\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"language-html\">https:\/\/test.adyen.link\/PL45D0F79183A4CCA2<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Send the payment link to your shopper.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>When the shopper selects the link, they are redirected to the Adyen-hosted payment form. The shopper can choose to pay with any payment method available in the <strong>Shopper country\/region<\/strong> you provided in the form.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"get-updates\">3. Get updates about the payment<\/h2>\n<p>After the shopper completes the payment, you can check the payment result in your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>, under <strong>Transactions<\/strong>\u00a0&gt;\u00a0<strong>Payments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To keep track of the payment, you can also <a href=\"#email-updates\">get payment updates sent to your email<\/a>, and <a href=\"#view-links\">view payment links in your Customer Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can set up <a href=\"\/pt\/development-resources\/webhooks\">webhooks<\/a> to get payment updates sent to your server. This requires development work.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-notice note\"><div>\n<p>We keep payment link details for three months. If it was more than three months ago that a payment link was created, the details are no longer available.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h3 id=\"email-updates\">Get payment updates to your email<\/h3>\n<p>To get payment status updates sent to email addresses, configure in your <a href=\"\/pt\/unified-commerce\/pay-by-link\/settings#general-settings\">Pay by Link general settings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When a payment has been completed, you receive an email that contains information about the payment, including the <strong>Merchant reference<\/strong>, <strong>PSP reference<\/strong>, and <strong>payment method<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"view-links\">View payment links in your Customer Area<\/h3>\n<p>You can view payment links created within the last <strong>90 days<\/strong> in your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Pay by Link<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Payment Links<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Payment links can have the following statuses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Active<\/strong>: the payment link is active and can be used to make a payment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Completed<\/strong>: the payment has been authorized. If you have enabled <a href=\"\/pt\/online-payments\/capture#manual-capture\">manual capture<\/a> on your merchant account, you also need to <a href=\"\/pt\/account\/manage-payments#capture-a-payment\">capture<\/a> the payment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Payment pending<\/strong>: the final result of the payment is not yet known.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Expired<\/strong>: the payment link has expired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you created a reusable payment link, only two statuses apply: <strong>Active<\/strong> and <strong>Expired<\/strong>. The status will not change to completed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"notices green\">\n<p>Shopper details such as email address are masked by default on the payment link list and details pages. To view unmasked shopper details, your user must have the <strong>Merchant view PII<\/strong> <a href=\"\/pt\/account\/user-roles\">user role<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"tokenize-payment-details-customer-area\">Tokenize payment details<\/h2>\n<p><div class=\"sc-notice note\"><div>Ask for the shopper's consent before tokenizing their payment details.<\/div><\/div><\/p>\n<p>When creating payment links through <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>, we only support saving payment details for recurring payments and not for one-off payments. To save your shopper's payment details for subsequent one-off payments, use the <a href=\"\/pt\/unified-commerce\/pay-by-link\/create-payment-links\/api\">Pay by Link API<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To tokenize the shopper's payment details for recurring payments, enable it in your <a href=\"\/pt\/unified-commerce\/pay-by-link\/settings\">Pay by Link settings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When the shopper wants you to save their payment details, follow the instructions for <a href=\"#create\">creating a payment link<\/a> and include the <strong>Shopper reference<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Force the expiry of a payment link<\/h2>\n<p>In some scenarios, you may want to force the expiry of a payment link. For example, if a shopper updates their order after you have sent them a payment link, you may want to create a new payment link with the updated amount.<\/p>\n<p>To force the expiry of a payment link:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Pay by Link<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Payment Links<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under the <strong>Payment link<\/strong> column, select the payment link you want to force expiry for.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Summary<\/strong> section, select the <strong>Manually expire link<\/strong> button under the <strong>Payment link<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"customize\">Customize the payment page<\/h2>\n<p>You can customize:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Which <a href=\"#payment-methods\">payment methods<\/a> are shown on the payment page, and in which order.<\/li>\n<li>The appearance of the payment page, using <a href=\"#themes\">themes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"payment-methods\">Payment methods<\/h3>\n<p>The payment methods are ordered by popularity: the most popular payment methods in the shopper's country\/region appear at the top. You can configure which payment methods are rendered (and in which order) based on the shopper's country\/region.<\/p>\n<p>To configure these settings, you must have the <strong>Change payment methods<\/strong> <a href=\"\/pt\/account\/user-roles#account\">user role<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your <a href=\"https:\/\/ca-test.adyen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" class=\"external-link no-image\">Customer Area<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>Settings<\/strong> &gt; <strong>Checkout settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select a <strong>Shopper country\/region<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Drag the payment\u00a0methods into the order you want them to appear to shoppers in this country\/region.<\/li>\n<li>To hide a payment method from shoppers in this country\/region, drag it to the <strong>Other configured payment methods<\/strong> box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"themes\">Themes<\/h3>\n<p>Themes allow you to specify a background image and a brand logo to customize the appearance of the payment page. If you create multiple themes, you can choose a theme when you create the payment link.<\/p>\n<p>On the company account level, you can create only one theme. However, on the merchant account level, you can create multiple themes and set up a default one. Create a payment link\nTo create a payment link:\n\n\nLog in to your Customer Area.\n\n\nSwitch to your merchant account.\n\n\nGo to Pay by Link &gt; Payment links\n1.vSelect Create payment link. The fields and options on the form depend on the creation settings that you configured.\n\n\nFill out the transaction details:\n\n\n\nField name\nRequired\nDescription\n\n\n\n\nStore\nDepends on creation setting: always, never, optional\nThe store that the payment is processed for.\n\n\nPayment link theme\n\nThe theme to show on the payment page.\n\n\nMerchant reference\n\nYour order number. You can use this to identify and reconcile the payment in your own system.\n\n\nAmount\n\nThe currency and value of the payment.\n\n\nShopper country\/region\n\nWe use this to tailor the list of payment methods available to your shopper.\n\n\nLanguage\n\nThe language of the payment page. By default, this is the language of the shopper's browser locale.\n\n\nShopper reference\nDepends on creation setting: always, never, optional\nYour reference to uniquely identify this shopper. Do not include personally identifiable information (PII), such as name or email address.  Minimum length: three characters.\n\n\nDescription\nDepends on creation setting: always, never, optional\nDescribe what the shopper is paying for. This description will be visible on the payment page.\n\n\nLink type\nDepends on creation setting\nSelect Single use if you want the link to be non-reusable or Open (for multiple payments) for a reusable payment link. Single use is selected by default.\n\n\nService date\nDepends on creation setting: always, never, optional\nSelect the validity period of the payment link. This can be a maximum of 70 days from the time you create the link. 24 hours is selected by default.\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you have enabled the email service, next to Payment link email:\n\nSelect checkboxes to indicate the email service flow you want to enable:\n\nSend the payment request directly to the shopper's email address.\nSend a payment confirmation success email to the shopper upon successful and completed payments.\n\nIn the input field that appears, enter the shopper's email address.\n\n\n\nUnder Additional details, fill in:\n\n\n\nField name\nRequired\nDescription\n\n\n\n\nShopper reference\nDepends on creation settings.\nA unique identifier for the shopper.\n\n\nShopper country\/region\nDepends on creation settings.\nThe shopper's country\/region.\n\n\n\n\n\nSelect Create payment link. The next page confirms the payment link was created.\n\n\n2. Send the payment link to your shopper\n\n\nOn the payment link confirmation page, select Copy link.\nBelow is an example payment link.\nhttps:\/\/test.adyen.link\/PL45D0F79183A4CCA2\n\nSend the payment link to your shopper.\n\nWhen the shopper selects the link, they are redirected to the Adyen-hosted payment form. The shopper can choose to pay with any payment method available in the Shopper country\/region you provided in the form.\n3. Get updates about the payment\nAfter the shopper completes the payment, you can check the payment result in your\u00a0Customer Area, under Transactions\u00a0&gt;\u00a0Payments.\nTo keep track of the payment, you can also get payment updates sent to your email, and view payment links in your Customer Area.\nAlternatively, you can set up webhooks to get payment updates sent to your server. This requires development work.\n\nWe keep payment link details for three months. If it was more than three months ago that a payment link was created, the details are no longer available.\n\nGet payment updates to your email\nTo get payment status updates sent to email addresses, configure in your Pay by Link general settings.\nWhen a payment has been completed, you receive an email that contains information about the payment, including the Merchant reference, PSP reference, and payment method.\nView payment links in your Customer Area\nYou can view payment links created within the last 90 days in your Customer Area.\n\nLog in to your Customer Area.\nSelect Pay by Link &gt; Payment Links.\n\nPayment links can have the following statuses:\n\nActive: the payment link is active and can be used to make a payment.\nCompleted: the payment has been authorized. If you have enabled manual capture on your merchant account, you also need to capture the payment.\nPayment pending: the final result of the payment is not yet known.\nExpired: the payment link has expired.\n\nIf you created a reusable payment link, only two statuses apply: Active and Expired. The status will not change to completed.\n\nShopper details such as email address are masked by default on the payment link list and details pages. To view unmasked shopper details, your user must have the Merchant view PII user role.\n\nTokenize payment details\nAsk for the shopper's consent before tokenizing their payment details.\nWhen creating payment links through Customer Area, we only support saving payment details for recurring payments and not for one-off payments. To save your shopper's payment details for subsequent one-off payments, use the Pay by Link API.\nTo tokenize the shopper's payment details for recurring payments, enable it in your Pay by Link settings.\nWhen the shopper wants you to save their payment details, follow the instructions for creating a payment link and include the Shopper reference.\nForce the expiry of a payment link\nIn some scenarios, you may want to force the expiry of a payment link. For example, if a shopper updates their order after you have sent them a payment link, you may want to create a new payment link with the updated amount.\nTo force the expiry of a payment link:\n\nLog in to your Customer Area.\nSelect Pay by Link &gt; Payment Links.\nUnder the Payment link column, select the payment link you want to force expiry for.\nIn the Summary section, select the Manually expire link button under the Payment link.\n\nCustomize the payment page\nYou can customize:\n\nWhich payment methods are shown on the payment page, and in which order.\nThe appearance of the payment page, using themes.\n\nPayment methods\nThe payment methods are ordered by popularity: the most popular payment methods in the shopper's country\/region appear at the top. You can configure which payment methods are rendered (and in which order) based on the shopper's country\/region.\nTo configure these settings, you must have the Change payment methods user role.\n\nLog in to your Customer Area.\nGo to Settings &gt; Checkout settings.\nSelect a Shopper country\/region.\nDrag the payment\u00a0methods into the order you want them to appear to shoppers in this country\/region.\nTo hide a payment method from shoppers in this country\/region, drag it to the Other configured payment methods box.\n\nThemes\nThemes allow you to specify a background image and a brand logo to customize the appearance of the payment page. If you create multiple themes, you can choose a theme when you create the payment link.\nOn the company account level, you can create only one theme. However, on the merchant account level, you can create multiple themes and set up a default one.
