[View source](/reporting/balance-transfers.md) Sometimes a balance transfer appears in a settlement batch. A balance transfer is when funds from one settlement batch transfers to another. The transfer can be either from a previous batch or to a next batch. You can find details of a balance transfer in: * The [Company Payout report](/reporting/balance-transfers/company-payout-report) for the reason it happened. * The [Settlement details report](/reporting/settlement-reconciliation/transaction-level/settlement-details-report) to find out which batch the balance transfer is to or from. * Balance notices via email or in the Notification center of your Customer Area.\ To enable, log in to your [Customer Area](https://ca-test.adyen.com/) and go to **Notification center** **> **Settings** > **Financial activity** > **Balances notices**, and select the channel you want to receive notifications through. To reconcile a balance transfer in your payout batch: 1. [Find the balance transfer reason](#find-the-balance-transfer-reason). 2. [Find the balance transfer entry in your Settlement details report](#find-the-balance-transfer-entry). ## 1. Find the balance transfer reason The **BalanceTransfer** sheet in the Company Payout report shows balance transfer entries. Find the reason in the **Reason Code** column. The possible values include: * [MISSING\_DEPOSIT](#missing-deposit) * [MISSING\_MPL\_CONFIG](#missing-mpl-config) * [MISSING\_SETTLEMENTFLOW\_CONFIG](#missing-settlementflow-config) * [MPL\_EXCEEDED](#mpl-exceeded) * [NEGATIVE\_AMOUNT\_COMPENSATION](#negative-amount-compensation) * [NEGATIVE\_INPROCESS](#negative-inprocess) * [PAYOUT\_ACCOUNT\_CONFIG](#payout-account-config) * [PAYOUTS\_BLOCKED](#payouts-blocked) ### MISSING\_DEPOSIT The payout has been blocked because the [deposit](/account/balances) either isn't configured or is incorrectly configured, so we have transferred the payout balance to the next settlement batch. You need to: * **Fix your deposit configuration**\ Contact your Account Manager or our [Support Team](https://ca-test.adyen.com/ca/ca/contactUs/support.shtml?form=other) to configure your deposit. ### MISSING\_MPL\_CONFIG The payout has been blocked because your liability risk settings aren't configured, so we have transferred the payout balance to the next settlement batch. You need to: * **Configure your liability risk settings**\ Contact your Account Manager or our [Support Team](https://ca-test.adyen.com/ca/ca/contactUs/support.shtml?form=other) to configure your liability risk settings. ### MISSING\_SETTLEMENTFLOW\_CONFIG There's an error with the configuration of your settlement flow, so we have transferred the payout balance to the next settlement batch. You need to: * **Fix the error**\ Contact your Account Manager or our [Support Team](https://ca-test.adyen.com/ca/ca/contactUs/support.shtml?form=other) to fix your settlement flow. ### MPL\_EXCEEDED Your [required deposit](/account/balances/deposit) has increased because changes in your transaction volumes have increased your [exposure](/account/balances/deposit#exposure), so we have transferred the amount from your balance to reach the required deposit. You need to: * **Find your liability risk details** You must have the **Merchant financial** [user role](/account/user-roles). To find out more about your exposure and deposit: 1. Log in to your [Customer Area](https://ca-test.adyen.com/): 2. Go to **Finance** > **Balances overview**. 3. Select the **Deposit** tab. ### NEGATIVE\_AMOUNT\_COMPENSATION You have a [negative Next Payout](/account/balances/next-payout#negative-payable) balance, and we have transferred the negative balance to the next settlement batch. * **Avoid negative balances**\ If you anticipate that future Next Payout balances will also be negative, [add funds to your Reserve](/account/balances/reserve#add-funds-to-reserve). ### NEGATIVE\_INPROCESS You have a negative balance of [in-process funds](/account/balances), and we have transferred the negative balance to the next settlement batch. * **Avoid negative balances**\ [Add funds to your Reserve](/account/balances/reserve#add-funds-to-reserve) to avoid negative balances in the future. If you keep getting balance transfers with this reason code after adding funds to your Reserve, contact your Account Manager or our [Support Team](https://ca-test.adyen.com/ca/ca/contactUs/support.shtml?form=other). * **Calculate your in-process funds balance**\ In [Payment accounting reports](/reporting/invoice-reconciliation/payment-accounting-report) for the dates included in the settlement batch, add the amounts in the **Captured (PC)** column together. The total is the balance of in-process funds. ### PAYOUT\_ACCOUNT\_CONFIG There's a problem with your [payout account](/account/manage-payout-account-details), and we have made a balance transfer to the next settlement batch. The problem can be either of the following: * Your bank account details are incorrect. * Your bank account doesn't support one of the currencies in the payout batch. You need to: * **Fix your payout account details**\ [Check your payout account details](/account/manage-payout-account-details#check) and fix any information that is incorrect. You can check the audit trail to find out if your payout account information was changed. * **Find the exchange rate for your balance transfer**\ If the reason for the balance transfer was because of an unsupported payout currency, we converted the balance transfer amount to your [primary payout currency](/account/getting-paid#supported-currencies) using an exchange rate for the creation date. ### PAYOUTS\_BLOCKED The payout was blocked, and we transferred the payout balance to the next settlement batch. Payouts can be blocked when: * Your bank account details cannot be verified by our third party providers. * The bank statement is missing or does not meet the [document requirements](/get-started-with-adyen/application-requirements/#bank-statement). You need to: * **Update your payout account details**\ [Check your payout account details](/account/manage-payout-account-details#check) and fix any information that is missing or incorrect. You can check the audit trail to find out if your payout account information was changed. If you are unable to fix the issue yourself, contact your Account Manager or our [Support Team](https://ca-test.adyen.com/ca/ca/contactUs/support.shtml?form=other). ## 2. Find the balance transfer entry in the Settlement details report Use the following columns in the Settlement details report to find a balance transfer entry in your settlement batch: * **Type**: an entry with the type **Balancetransfer** identifies it as a balance transfer. * **Net Currency**: the currency of the net amount. * **Modification Merchant Reference**: specifies if the balance transfer is to a following batch or from a previous batch. For positive balance transfers: * **Net Credit**: the net amount of the positive balance transfer.
