Supported payout currencies
Learn what payout currencies Adyen supports in different countries/regions.
For each Adyen acquiring connection, learn which payment methods we acquire, which currencies we settle in, and how we pay out to your bank account.
How funds reach your bank account
Every transaction you process with Adyen goes through three steps:
- Acquiring: Adyen processes the payment through one of our acquiring entities, for example Adyen Singapore. This includes global card schemes such as Visa or Mastercard, and any regional or alternative payment methods enabled on your account.
- Settlement: The funds settle into an Adyen bank account in the settlement currency. The settlement currency depends on the acquiring region and payment method. The location of that bank account depends on both the currency and the acquiring entity, and determines which payment rails we can use to pay you out.
- Payout: Adyen sends the balance to your bank account. You can receive payouts in two ways:
- Local payout: We send funds through the currency's local payment rails, for example, SEPA in the eurozone or Faster Payments in the UK. Local payouts are faster and avoid SWIFT fees. You need a local bank account in a country that uses that specific currency as the legal tender.
- Cross-border payout: We send funds through SWIFT. Your bank may charge incoming fees, and the transfer can take longer.
What this means for your payout setup
When choosing your settlement currency and payout bank account:
- If your bank account is located in a country or region that officially uses that currency (for example, a EUR account in the Eurozone), you receive local payouts. This is the fastest option with the lowest costs.
- If your bank account is located outside a country or region that officially uses that currency (for example, an AUD account at a Singaporean bank), payouts are delivered via SWIFT.
- Certain currencies can only be paid out to a local bank account within a country or region where that currency is the official legal tender: BRL, INR, MYR, MXN, and AED. SWIFT payouts are not supported for these currencies.
You can configure multiple payout currencies for each merchant account. Add a payout account for each payout currency. If you have a multi-currency bank account, you can use the same bank details for multiple payout accounts.
If your country or region is not listed in the following tables, refer to the country or region of the acquiring connection used to route your transactions.
