User roles

Learn about the different roles you can assign to your team members

User roles are sets of permissions that determine what a user can do in your Customer Area and Balance Platform Customer Area. Your admin user account has all the roles that are available in your platform. You can use the admin user to create more users and assign them roles.

You can only assign roles that your user account already has. If you want additional roles in your platform, request them from your Adyen contact.

User roles are classified into the following categories:

The following sections describe all the existing user roles in each category.

General

General roles enable you to create and manage platform resources. The following table shows what general roles are available in your Customer Area and Balance Platform Customer Area.

Balance platform admin role

View all the pages and personally identifiable information (PII) of users. Users can also manage platform settings, such as:
  • Creating and managing users.

  • Creating and managing API credentials.

  • Downloading and scheduling reports.

View all transfers, account holders, and balance accounts.

Developer role

Create and manage webhooks and API credentials.

Account holders

These roles enable you to manage account holders, legal entities, and capabilities. The following table shows what roles in this category are available in your Customer Area and Balance Platform Customer Area.

Manage account holder capabilities

Enable, disable, or request new capabilities for an account holder.
To use this role, the user must also have the Balance platform admin role or Balance platform base role.

Transfers

These roles enable you to manage the transfers that occur in your platform. The following table shows what roles in this category are available in your Customer Area and Balance Platform Customer Area.

Transfer funds to a balance account or transfer instrument.

Create, activate, deactivate, or delete sweep configurations for a balance account.

View unmasked personally identifiable information (PII) related to third-party bank accounts that belong to individuals.
This role only applies to the Transfers page.
To use this role, the user must also have one of the following roles:
