Adyen Uplift helps you strike a balance between conversion, risk and cost. You get recommendations that are tailored for your business, can experiment with different settings, and find out where you can make changes to increase revenue and decrease cost. Adyen Uplift helps you get more out of payments and reduces the time you have to spend on operational tasks.

Recommendations and insights are powered by machine learning and automation. Use them to evaluate the full payment funnel performance, automate decisions, take action to optimize payment conversion, simplify risk management, or lower the cost of payments.

We are developing Adyen Uplift and will be adding more recommendations, insights, and settings. The experience is subject to change and might differ across regions, countries, and integration types.

Requirements

Before you begin, take into account the following requirements and limitations.

Requirement Description
Integration type Make sure that you have built an online payments integration.
Customer Area roles Users who can log into the Customer Area can see the Uplift overview.
Changing settings or taking action on recommendations can require different user roles.

To change Protect settings, you need one of the following role(s):
  • Risk admin
  • Merchant change risk settings
To change Optimize settings, you need one of the following role(s):
  • Merchant admin
  • Merchant change Uplift optimize settings
To add payment methods, you need the following role(s):
  • Change payment methods
Limitations You will only receive recommendations that apply to your integration, and that are relevant for the countries or regions you operate in.

Adyen Uplift is optimized for online payments and omnichannel integrations.

We are making Adyen Uplift available over the course of 2025. If you do not see the Uplift overview in your Customer Area, your company or merchant account is not yet included in the rollout. Contact your Adyen account manager for more information.

Evaluate performance and take action

Adyen Uplift looks at your company's data, how your account is set up, which features and products you use, and which optimizations could make it even better.

Based on your company and merchant settings, payment setup, risk performance, and historical data, Adyen Uplift compares and analyzes where you could optimize. In the Uplift overview, you will see several graphs to review your performance, followed by recommendations to learn how you can optimize your setup, and a section to explore more resources. We have divided the Adyen Uplift focal areas in a number of modules:

Potential improvements that require your input are presented as recommendations on which you can take action. You can get different types of recommendations. For example, you can get a recommendation to add more payment methods, enable or disable features to boost revenue or reduce costs, or make changes to your risk settings or risk profile. Each recommendation contains information about the expected effect that you can evaluate, and shows you how you can take action.

To view the Adyen Uplift dashboard:

  1. Log in to your Customer Area with your company account.
  2. Go to Revenue & risk > Uplift overview.
  3. Review the dashboard and recommendations, start an experiment, or take action.

Tokenize

Use this Uplift module to focus on optimizing online payments that use tokens, such as card on file or recurring subscription payments.

With Adyen, you can securely store one or more payment details per shopper, with the shopper's consent. These tokens replace the shopper’s payment details and can be used in subsequent payments. With tokens, you can offer an improved checkout experience to your shoppers, and limit your PCI DSS scope.

Apart from implementing tokenization itself, you can use features that improve tokenization in general. For example, you can use the Real Time Account Updater to make sure shopper details for card schemes such as Visa and Mastercard are updated automatically, or enable network tokenization to use scheme-based tokens.

Protect

Use this Uplift module to evaluate how your risk setup is doing by looking at the fraud rate performance, and to optimize conversion while balancing fraud risk.

Using the latest risk engine, you can detect, prevent, and monitor fraud risk, and benefit from machine learning that uses Adyen’s global transaction data. Fine-tune your risk profile to address fraud risks or business logic specific to your company using premium features such as custom rules and labels. In this way, Protect helps you stay on top of performance using the latest risk profile interface that includes functionality such as risk rule backtesting and profile analytics.

To further optimize conversion and fraud detection, make sure you enable data collection for your business to automate collecting device and behavior data from your checkout page or other pages in your website.

Authenticate

Use this Uplift module to apply the right authentication mechanism for each shopper, balancing security, regulation, and convenience while you maximize conversion and limit risk.

Benefit from the smart, automated decisions that our Authentication Engine makes to get the highest conversion rates. For example, the engine helps decide when to offer strong customer authentication, which exemptions to ask for, and when to request the frictionless or the challenge flow based on issuer preference. The engine is included when you have built a 3D Secure 2 native or redirect integration for Web, Android or iOS.

If you want more granular control, use dynamic 3D Secure to make sure 3D Secure is requested or, in special cases, request a 3D Secure challenge.

Optimize

Use this Uplift module and the recommendations to optimize your integration for conversion and cost. Make the best use of available payment methods, and benefit from automated routing, issuer messaging, and recovery.

For example, you can explore recommendations to add payment methods, and evaluate how they can influence your revenue. Other recommendations in this module focus on optimizing payments using Smart Payment Messaging, maximizing conversion by retrying payments, and reducing cost.
