Learn more about Adobe Commerce in our Partner Directory.

Our plugin for Adobe Commerce (formerly Magento 2) gives you access to the features of the Adyen payments platform in one integration. Accept all major global and local payment methods, store your shoppers' payment details for later payments, and use our risk management system. The plugin keeps the two platforms synchronized, so you can view transaction summaries in Adobe Commerce, and switch to Adyen for more detailed reporting.

You can integrate with Adyen as your payment processor for your Adobe Commerce store with either:

  • Standard plugin integration: Integrate with our plugin that gives you access to all the features and uses the Adyen Web Components to present payment options to your shoppers. For your checkout, you can use:

  • Headless plugin integration: Build your own checkout form for an Adobe Commerce PWA storefront and process payments with a headless back end that uses the Adyen plugin.

The plugin is open source and compatible with Magento 2, Adobe Commerce, and Adobe Commerce Cloud platforms.

Supported versions

This documentation reflects the latest version of the plugin. You can find the latest version on GitHub.

Our plugin supports Adobe Commerce version 2.4.0 or later.

We may be unable to provide support if you are not using the default Adobe Commerce checkout. We do not recommend customizing the plugin, because this could make it harder to upgrade and maintain your integration.
If you decide to customize your integration, we recommend that you:

  • Keep track of the custom code added to your integration.
  • Create an issue on GitHub if you want to suggest a new feature for the plugin.
  • Follow the customization best practices outlined by the Adobe Commerce DevDocs.

Support levels

We provide three levels of support for major versions of the plugin:

  • Level 1: Full support.
  • Level 2: High priority bug fixes and security updates.
  • Level 3: Security updates only.
Major version Release date Level 1 support until Level 2 support until Level 3 support until
V8 November 2021 January 2024 May 2024 January 2025
V9 October 2023 December 2025 May 2026 December 2026
V10 Work in progress

When the level 3 support period has ended, security updates will no longer be provided and Adyen support ends. You should upgrade to a later version or consider the plugin your own custom integration.

How it works

When a shopper proceeds to your Adobe Commerce store's checkout page, the plugin handles the payment flow using the Adyen Checkout API. During the payment flow and after, the plugin keeps the two platforms synchronized by handling Adyen Webhooks and updating order statuses in Adobe Commerce.

You can manage orders and view transaction summaries in Adobe Commerce, while switching to Adyen for more detailed reporting and conversion analytics.

Get started

Before you begin to integrate, make sure you have followed the Get started with Adyen guide to:

  • Get an overview of the steps needed to accept live payments.
  • Create your test account.

While you wait for your live account credentials, you can start integrating by using your test account:

  1. Set up your Adyen test Customer Area.
  2. Set up the plugin in Adobe Commerce
  3. Set up the payment methods in Adobe Commerce.
  4. Use our test card numbers to make test payments for all payment methods that you want to offer.

If you want to build a headless integration, follow our Headless integration guide.

Before going live, follow our go-live checklist to make sure you have got everything set up correctly.
