Liable account summary

View the starting and ending balances of your liable account for a chosen time frame.

The Liable account summary is a dashboard in your Customer Area that helps you reconcile financial activity on your platform's liable account. It gives your finance team a clear, aggregated view of commissions, costs, and fund movements.

This dashboard solves common reconciliation challenges, such as parsing large, transaction-level reports. Instead of manually aggregating data, you get a summary of all activity for a given date range.

You can use this dashboard for the following purposes:

  • Reconcile platform revenue and costs by viewing aggregated totals for commissions and fees.
  • Close your financial books at the end of the month, quarter, or year with accurate starting and ending balances.
  • Monitor financial activity during the month to track performance and avoid surprises.
  • Investigate discrepancies by looking into specific transaction categories.

Access the summary

To access the Liable account summary:

  1. Log in to your Customer Area.
  2. At the merchant account level, navigate to Finance > Liable account summary.
  3. Set the Date, Balance account, and Currency to filter the data.

When you access the summary from the merchant account level, Adyen displays all liable balance accounts for the configured balance platform account.

The dashboard categories are dynamic; they only appear if there is underlying data for the selected period. Data is made available at the close of every sales day.

Filter the summary

You can filter the view by:

  • Date: Select a custom date range. The data is displayed in the timezone configured for your account and is based on your Sales day payout configuration.
  • Balance account: View all liable balance accounts or filter for a specific one.
  • Currency: The currency of the selected balance account(s).

Understand the summary

The summary calculates the Ending balance by taking the Starting balance and taking the sum total of all Adjustments, Commission, Fees, and Others.

Select any category (for example, Commission) to see a breakdown of the specific transaction types involved. This view shows the Count, Amount, and Total.

Reconcile with other reports

While the Liable account summary provides a high-level overview, you need to use a combination of other reports for a complete reconciliation workflow.

Balance Platform Accounting Report

The Liable account summary does not contain transaction level data. To get the specific transactions that make up the aggregated total, use the Balance platform accounting report.

For example, if you notice an unexpected total in the Fees category in the summary, you can find a line-by-line breakdown of each fee in the Balance platform accounting report.

To understand which parts of the Balance platform accounting report make up each aggregated total on the Liable account summary, refer to the Categories reference.

Adyen invoice

The Liable account summary provides a breakdown of fees charged to your liable account only. While you can cross-reference your monthly Payment processing invoice, keep in mind the following:

  • The Liable account summary uses the timezone of the liable account, while the invoice uses CET.
  • If you split fees with your account holders, the amount in fees booked to your liable account will not match the fees on your invoice.

Categories

This section lists all possible categories types that can appear in the summary. Use these types to cross-reference to other reports and verify totals.

  • Adjustments: Includes fund movements not directly related to a transaction, such as bank transfers, top-ups, internal transfers, and reserve adjustments.
  • Commission: Your platform's revenue. This total includes splits to the selected liable balance account as well as refunds and chargebacks.
  • Fees: Fees charged on each transaction by the schemes or by Adyen.
  • Others: A category for any activities that do not fall into the other categories (for example, deposit corrections, or remainders).
