One time password

Retrieve the password from the Customer Area.

In the procedures on this page, you need to know the serial number of your terminal:

  • The serial number is printed on the back of the terminal, above the barcode. For example, S/N:123-456-789.
  • You can also view the terminal information screen by pressing 5 and then on the terminal. If this doesn't work, try reversing the order or pressing both keys at the same time. The second line on the display shows the model and serial number, for example V400m-123456789.

New terminal

The Customer Area will generate one-time passwords for your new terminal as soon as you assign it to a specific store.

  1. Log in to your Customer Area:
    • For a live terminal, go to your live Customer Area.
    • For a test terminal (your terminal's home screen says "Test") go to your test Customer Area.
  2. Navigate to Point of sale > Terminals, and click the Inventory tab.
  3. Search for your terminal by serial number.
  4. Select the terminal and click Reassign.
  5. If a Terminal reassignment message appears, click Got it.
  6. In the Reassign terminal to dialog, select Store and click Next.
  7. In the Choose store dialog, start typing the store code, city, or street name. A list of matching stores appears.
  8. Select the store from the list, and click Next.
  9. In the Confirm reassign dialog, click Next.
  10. Click on the row of your terminal to view the terminal detail page.
The password is displayed at the top, in the One time password field.

Already assigned terminal

  1. Log in to your Customer Area:
  2. Navigate to Point of sale > Terminals.
  3. Search for your terminal by serial number.
  4. Click on the row of your terminal to view the terminal detail page.
The password is displayed at the top, in the One time password field.

If you can't find the terminal in the Customer Area

  • You are in the TEST Customer Area while you should be in LIVE, or vice versa.
  • The number you entered was not the terminal serial number.
  • You don't have the required user role in the Customer Area.

To access one-time passwords, you need to have the Merchant POS Terminal Management role. Contact your company's admin user for help.
