Learn more about IRIS on adyen.com.
IRIS is a payment method offered by Greek banks, that allows your customers to pay directly from their bank accounts.
This payment method is mandatory for any merchant with business in Greece, on e-commerce and in-store.
If you integrate IRIS through Adyen, you need to enter into a contract with one of the IRIS acquiring banks. In November 2025, the list included: Alpha Bank, National Bank of Greece, Eurobank, Piraeus Bank, Viva.com and Credia Bank.
- Adyen acts as gateway: as merchant, you must contract with a Greek bank.
- Refunds and cancellations are not supported through Adyen: you have to handle refunds and cancellations with your Greek bank.
Onboarding process with Greek bank
If you are interested in activating IRIS through Adyen, contact your bank to request the IRIS service. Banks that support the IRIS service are listed on the DIAS website. It is important to notify the bank that you intend to use Adyen as gateway/processor.
The bank will provide an onboarding form ("Annex A – DCT Creditor Parameters") that you must complete in order to register with DIAS for the use of IRIS, and to receive a "DIAS code", which is a 5-digit Merchant Identifier for IRIS. In this form, item 5 (Payment Code Standard) must be marked as "RI0".
The bank may also request additional forms for Adyen to complete. These forms relate to connectivity setups with DIAS for the processing of IRIS transactions. As your gateway to IRIS, connectivity with DIAS is managed by Adyen. Connectivity between Adyen and DIAS is generic and does not need to be configured per merchant, so such connectivity forms can usually be skipped. If such forms are requested, we recommend to verify applicability with your acquirer bank.
